Devon and Tyler's Fall Wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms | Rockton Illinois

There is something about an October wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms that just feels right. The changing leaves, cooler temperatures, beautiful fall light, and the warm wood of the Pavilion make it one of my favorite times of year to photograph weddings in Northern Illinois. Devon and Tyler's October wedding had all of that, along with a beautiful color palette and a reception that turned into one heck of a party.

Their day started with everyone getting ready before heading outside for their ceremony beneath the oak trees. The fall weather couldn't have been better, and the natural setting at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms made for a beautiful backdrop as Devon and Tyler exchanged vows surrounded by their family and friends.

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Orchard Ridge Farms is how many different looks you can get without ever having to leave the property. Between the oak trees, open fields, pond, orchard, and the Pavilion itself, there are plenty of options for portraits throughout the day. It also means we can take advantage of whatever light we happen to get, whether that's soft afternoon light or the golden glow that comes later in the evening.

Devon and Tyler's burgundy and blue color palette worked perfectly with the fall setting. The bridesmaids' burgundy dresses paired with the blue suits worn by Tyler and the groomsmen gave the day a classic look that felt seasonal without going overboard on the fall theme.

After the ceremony, we spent some time taking portraits around the property before heading back inside for the reception. I always try to keep this part of the day relaxed and moving. Instead of spending hours posing for photographs, we can get a variety of portraits in a few different locations and then get everyone back to the party.

As the sun started to set, the mood of the day changed pretty quickly. Devon and Tyler had a cigar bar set up for their guests, which gave everyone another place to hang out, relax, and enjoy the evening. It was one of those details that fit their personalities and made the reception feel like their own.

And then there was the dance floor.

It stayed packed for pretty much the entire night. Friends and family were out there celebrating, laughing, dancing, and making the most of the night. Those are some of my favorite reception photographs because there isn't really anything to direct. You just have to pay attention and be ready when something happens.

Devon and Tyler's wedding was a perfect example of why I love photographing fall weddings at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms. The setting was beautiful, the colors were perfect for October, and most importantly, their family and friends knew how to celebrate.

It was an absolute pleasure to be there to photograph it all.

The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms is a wedding venue located in Rockton, Illinois, near Rockford and the Illinois Wisconsin border. The property sits on 130 acres and offers couples several different settings for their wedding day, including outdoor ceremony locations, the Pavilion reception space, the surrounding grounds, and the Copperstone Inn.

The combination of open countryside, mature oak trees, landscaped areas, and the Pavilion gives couples a lot of variety for wedding photography without having to travel between locations. It is one of the reasons The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms has become one of my favorite wedding venues to photograph in the Rockford and Northern Illinois area.

Wedding Photography at Orchard Ridge Farms

When I photograph a wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms, I like to take advantage of the entire property throughout the day. The outdoor ceremony locations provide beautiful natural settings, while the grounds offer plenty of options for family photographs, wedding party portraits, and photographs of the couple.

As the day progresses, the changing light creates completely different looks around the property. Afternoon portraits can have a bright, natural feel, while the later evening light can create warm, romantic photographs around the trees and open areas.

My approach combines direction for portraits with candid coverage throughout the wedding day. I'll help you know where to stand and what to do when you need direction, but I also want to give you plenty of time to simply enjoy your wedding and let the real moments happen.
